First Stitches

The first stitches were cast in our new home yesterday afternoon and I am so happy to be back. It’s taken a bit longer than I expected getting my sewing studio ready but feels great to have the machines up and running.

Check back on the 15th of Oct. for some giveaways, new diapers (including F&L’s) and a host of other great stuff!

Custom Order + New items!

Custom order for 4 Side Snapping All In Ones and a trainer custom made in about an 18-24 months (or thin 2T) size-sherpa inner with hemp soak.

And 4 beautiful new PUL colors in the store! Lime Green, Baby Blue, Baby Green and Baby Pink, so Springy!!!

18" to an outfit!

I’ma lways mentioning making tops and dresses from remnants. The fact is, the remnant bin at my fabric store is practically my favorite place to be. Not to mention the fact I grab the spot in front of it when I’m waiting for the next fabric cutter to become available. I always raid it and usually find some great stuff!

Just before Easter my Mom bought Rachel some presmocked fabric. I think last year was the first year I saw it and I thought, cool! Basically, it comes in a few different lengths, it’s smocked on top and then the skirt hangs, you buy as much as you need to go around you and sew up the back. Voila, almost instant dress! For kids though I like to have straps. I got home and discovered 18 1/2″ isn’t enough to have any sort or normal dress towards the bottom so I cut the bottom off about 6 inches from the smocking. Then, withthe lower portion that I cut off, I made shorts! The ties I actually made from the lower portion of the 2nd remnant I bought. I made a dress for Rachel out of that and still had enough left over to make straps for her too!

So here is the finished product, a 2 piece outfit, with a halter style top and capri length shorts. TOO CUTE. This can be found in the HC shop. To see Rachel’s dress, click here.

Eye Candy

I’ve been a busy gal today.

I just love baby bonnets! This one’s made with eyelit.
And this dres sis cuter in real life! I waited until the sun was settint to take photos so the light isn’t geat. I’ve added piping up top and rick rack to the hem. SO adorable.

I am IN LOVE with this pretty little number. If you’ll notice, I made two :o). One for my little girl and one to sell! Be on the look out this week for it!

and a custom for 3 thrown in for good measure :o).

Summer Sewing

Already? Yes, already. I bought the floral piece of fabric for about a buck, it was a remnant, so was the yellow stripe that I used as the ruffle on the bottom. It’s nowhere near warm enough to wear this yet but I’m getting antsy for Spring! This little shirt is one of my favorite patterns. It’s just 2 pieces plus some binding, pretty easy but I purdy it up in a lot of different ways including smocking, which I’ve done in the past. This should be a cool summer shirt for Miss Rachel. I also cut one out in a NB/Small size, maybe I’ll get to that next week!

I tried to get a photo of the inside seams but it didn’t show up to well. But they are french seams and the whole thing just looks beautiful!
